IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT OUR UPCOMING MEETINGS
The location and day for our monthly meeting is changing starting for the April meeting. The next meeting is in September, as we are off for the summer. The new location is at SILVER BIRCHES PUBLIC SCHOOL located at
65 Marshall Ave E, North Bay, ON
P1A 3L4. When you enter the front doors make a left turn, to the end of the hallway and turn right and the library is on your right hand side. We have returned to a Wednesday meeting date to try and accommodate as many people as possible. The new location is much more central and has easier access by city transit. We hope to see everyone out there in September. Below is a map of the new location, simply click on the button and it will take you to an enlarged map. There is also a map and schedule for City Transit, simply click on the Transit Button and you will get the information.
Meetings are held at 7 PM. Have a safe summer and hope to see you at Gateway or any of the other
Star Parties this summer.
As many of you know there was a lunar eclipse on April 4th One of our members(Bob Chapman) braved the early morning cold and was able to capture some great images. Have a look below at what was visible in our area. Thanks Bob!! anyone else manage any pictures?? let us know and we can put them up here. Click on an image to enlarge it

ANNUAL GATEWAY TO THE UNIVERSE STAR PARTY: July 9-12 2015 @ Marten River Provincial Park (Reservations not required but registration through the web site under the contact us section is suggested)
Some of the activities planned for the weekend.
Thursday, there will be a social communal fire at the main tent for pontificating and general astronomy lies. During the day we plan on having a couple of solar scopes set up as well for public viewing.
If weather permits we will have night viewing for the public on all three nights of the weekend.
Friday night at 7:30 we have the privilege of having Bob Chapman doing a presentation at the logging theater called What is a Galaxy, This is a great presentation not to be missed.
Saturday we have group picture at the front gate of the Park at 4pm, (don't miss this!!!) followed by a pot luck communal dinner at the main tent at 5pm. This is always a highlight of the weekend.
50/50 draw is ongoing all weekend and will be drawn at the Sat dinner. Some great prizes are up for grabs, so bring you change for the tickets!! We are considering setting up a table for people to sell some of their excess astronomy equipment, got any ?? bring it along.

Have you seen Mercury? Many people have not! It’s not that it’s hard to see ... It’s just that you have to know when look. And the right time is coming soon. From the last weekend of April to the middle of May, Mercury will be prominent in the West in dark skies after
evening Twilight (approx. 1 hour to 1 ½ hours after Sunset).
